General sentiment of the last 2 years expressed excellently thanks to another cross stitch design by Subversive Cross Stitch.
Those of you who know me will know that I’ve had a somewhat pained relationship with cancer over the last few years. First a childhood friend was diagnosed and thankfully beat his cancer. Then my beautiful cross-stitching-Seinfeld-loving Nana was diagnosed and sadly passed away last year. Then my mother’s partner was also diagnosed, had to go through months of extreme treatment and again, sadly passed away last year, which was around the same time that my Aunt and Godmother was also diagnosed, but thankfully she is in recovery.
A few weeks ago my childhood friend, Frances, was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Frances is 21 and is in her first year of University at Swansea, where she will undergo her treatment. For a young girl, to have this news thrust upon her is understandably devastating, but Fran is brave and facing her treatment head on.
To support Fran through her treatment, and the added trauma of losing her hair due to chemotherapy, myself and 4 friends are all going to be having some pretty drastic haircuts around the beginning of May. We plead with you to kindly donate whatever you can and we will pass the donation onto Cancer Research UK so situations like this will become a thing of the past.
Please go to http://www.justgiving.com/izzy-james/ and donate today.
Royal Tenenbaums cross stitch finally completed! Credit should go to Joe Nicholas to alerting me to the design and the frankly incredible site/iPhone app, Minipops for creating the design. Downloaded the app the other day and was frankly amazed at the wide variety and obscurity of the designs. Next on my list to attempt is Seinfeld/Pavement/Daniel Johnston and Max Fischer!

Finally finished my absolutely gigantic sampler cross-stitch which I actually started way back in January. Well, I say finished - the final product is supposed to feature some french knot roses on the gates next to the house but I can’t master them for the life of me, so until I find someone who can teach me, it’s finished.
Really happy that it’s finally done and that I now have a reference when making personalised patterns for others. Already on to my next (much smaller) design which I hope to have done in about 2 weeks.
Had a lovely few days stay back in my home town this weekend. Thankfully squeezed in a lot of time with friends and 2 walks around our nearby reservoir, Clywedog, in what felt like the last fleeting days of summer. God, I miss these hills.

First in what is bound to be a long series of posts about cross stitching and embroidery.
These are some thank-you cards I made for various relatives who gave me some lovely money for my 21st birthday. They’ve taken me WAY longer than they should have to complete thanks to a hectic few weeks and annoyingly they’re still not done as I need to buy some card/glue for backing as my underside is a little messy.
Pretty simple to do though and I think they look much better than a moonpig card.
